The Last Kingdom.
I can't quite put my finger on it but the series really keeps me watching.
After multiple EU-based users complained about not being able to access Threads app through VPN, Meta confirmed it is blocking such efforts.

Flashback to when my sister in law had an electric car and felt compelled to plug it in at my place everytime she visited.
In honor of communities throughout the Fediverse, [@BestOf](https://kbin.social/m/BestOf) will be highlighting communities that distinguish themselves from others with the quality and value they bring to the Fediverse. This week, we are happy to introduce TrueGaming! !Truegaming [@Truegaming](https://kbin.social/m/Truegaming) > > > Truegaming is a "deep-dive" community dedicated to thoughtful and in-depth discussions about all things gaming (i.e. video games, board games, and beyond). > > > > > The community values posts and comments that contribute to meaningful conversations, such as in-depth reviews, breaking down mechanics and narratives, and general exploration of game design and philosophy. Truegaming strives to provide an environment where gamers can engage in constructive debates, share their perspectives, and learn from others in the community. > >

I'm old now. I've finally realised I get more enjoyment from watching someone play than to actually play the game. Why is that? Do you experience that as well?

There is some confirmation bias, that's likely true. However, I think they're also looking at the old games through rose-tinted goggles. Those games were played when they were literally the best the market had to offer. The mechanics were fresh and the story was new.
I tried playing some olders games that I loved, and honestly I just couldn't care less about them. As much as they were amazing back then, they're nothing exciting by today's standards.

I'm a wait-and-see guy but the problem is by the time I've noticed I just don't care about the game anymore. As an example: Cyberpunk 2077.

When I played World of Warcraft, you had no cosmetics. It was the monthly subscription and the odd expansion. Everything in the game was accessible if you were willing to put the time and effort into it. Some content was very long so you really had to pick what you wanted. Some people had special fishing gear, some people had a fancy mount, and others had fancy titles.
While some of that still remains, I find way too much is accessible with money in most games. There's good and bad. You have games constantly push out new content, refreshing gameplay, and skins to pay for it. On the other hand, you have games that just try to milk their customers. I'd say 99% of mobile games are absolute disgraces.
The other facet is that I'm older now. I don't have the absolute freedom that comes with being a child. If I can pay an extra dollar to progress a bit quicker, maybe that's better for me? I don't know.

So what you're saying is we need to open a Threads account and become Nazis?

As Moderator to !BestOf, this is my biggest fear. I've been working pretty extensively on this community in my spare time and I'm afraid that if the Moderators of r/BestOf decide to federate, we will lose. I'm not entirely nervous about fragmenting the community so much as just being r/LesserBestOf. By design, this community shouldn't really be fragmentated unless we decide to become BestOf something specific.

I'm at a bit of an empass. It was easy to communicate with a single mod but now that we're 3, communication is tough. I thought maybe Microsoft OneNote... but it just doesn't have the privacy and decentralization that's consistent with kbin. What are your suggestions? how do you guys do it?

I've been on Reddit for like 12 years and I was never banned by an admin. The fact that you got banned twice is sus.
I did get banned from blackpeopletwitter for being white.

I disagree. A rubber band and a donut do not have an 'in' and 'out'.

Thanks for the feedback. I honestly never realized it did that. I'll try and figure out a way that doesn't do this.

Honestly, I think it's important that people sub to all the same-subject communities across the Fediverse. However.. the only time it's really important to make the distinction is while creating a post. I hope we get the equivalent of 'multireddits' for all spaces with the same subject.

As off-topic discussions are generally discouraged, we have decided to establish Monday threads for meta discussions. Under this thread, you may discuss about the earlier discussions, the direction this community is going, moderation, etc. Happy browsing! patchw3rk
Four individuals have agreed to be locked inside NASA's Mars simulator for just over a year. And they're being paid surprisingly little.
As July 1 approaches and the Reddit Ark is set to arrive, we would like to know your thoughts on how we can grow this community. Please share your thoughts and ideas on how this community can continue to distinguish itself. Happy browsing! \-BestOf Mod Team
When first logged into kbin, I noticed a lot of important communities were missing so I created a few in hopes of putting them in the right hands when things took off. I'm at about that point where I'm ready to give some because there's no way I can manage 5+ at the same time. I have promoted some users to moderator, but how do I give them completely?
I'm the creator of [@Bestof](https://kbin.social/m/Bestof) or [!BestOf@kbin.social](https://kbin.social/m/!BestOf@kbin.social) and I've been trying to grow the community for the last couple of weeks. It was an uphill battle as I could only get 5-10 members every day, sometimes even much less. After finally hitting 100 subscribers yesterday, 200 subscribers this morning, and nearly at 300 subscribers this afternoon, I believe my community is really fruiting! Thank you so much for your interest. I will do my best to manage this community and have it flourish. I can envision how fantastic it will be, and I hope it contributes to your enjoyment of the Fediverse!
As moderator, we will let the community manage the content and decide what is worthy of the frontpage. I understand the community looks empty on Lemmy, but I can assure you it's not. There must be an issue with the integration between kbin and lemmy, it should be fixed and the real numbers should come up eventually.
