New Communities

Guys I understand there's big stuff going on in the world. This community though is really just about finding other communities. For now, on the theory that people kind of forgot where they were, some temp bans were handed out. I have no pretensions of this being c/news or something. But I also have no pretensions of this being c/news. It is absolutely beyond the pale to post your political broadsides here while people are trying to figure out the best place to have their community. The only way politics is acceptable here is if you're talking about opening or moving a community about politics or because of politics. And it should absolutely remain civil. A simple, "I don't like your ideology", is enough here.

If you create a community, please try and populate it with content. I see a lot of new communities with 0-1 posts from the mod. That's not nearly enough to get people engaged - users are going to see that it's a ghost town and leave. If you have enough interest to create a community, you probably know *something* about the subject matter, so PLEASE add some posts (5-10 would be a good start). Maybe some questions to get people talking, even popular reposts from other sites. It sucks shouting into a void, but if you don't do it, everyone else will also be shouting into a void. Also please consider whether you *need* to create a community! When there are 100 million users of the site, there may be 1000 people who are interested in the same exact niche tabletop RPG as you, but there are <500,000 users here for now, so you'll be lucky to find 10. Consider creating a thread in a broader community (like boardgames) until you have enough people talking in the thread that it gets messy - *then* it's time to create a separate community. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Asking as there has been a few comments mentioning this with the new [!stardewvalley@lemm.ee](https://lemm.ee/c/stardewvalley) taking over [!stardewvalley@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/c/stardewvalley) [!yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com](https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/yepowertrippinbastards) for additional context on those recent events if you are interested Also, an older post for more context on how lemmy.ml is managed: https://lemmy.world/post/16211417 Curious to hear other thoughts about this, as I'm trying to keep [!simracing@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/c/simracing) active, but might suggest to move it elsewhere if a lot of people prefer not to interact with lemmy.ml communities

!metabolic_health@lemm.ee A place to discuss metabolic health research, papers, lectures, diets, etc. I spend a good deal of time soaking up this area of research - Thought I'd just start publicly journaling my notes and maybe kick off a new community.

This is the most impactful and crucial election I have ever been alive for. This community is for links to activism, volunteer opportunities, and any other way to get involved and try to help get things from worse to better. !election@ponder.cat

/c/talesfromthecrypticlemmy@lemmy.world !talesfromthecrypticlemmy@lemmy.world So, I do a lot of writing *(mystery solved for people wondering how I can reply so fast and so much on Lemmy!)* and decided to create a fun little community, Tales from the Cryptic Lemmy. Mostly a showcase for "crappy" pulp writers like myself. I figured I’d leave the good writing for the better communities out there. I'm hoping the new community will be all about celebrating and participating in crappy pulp horror writing, where people can just have fun with it and not worry about perfection. It’s all about embracing the weird, over-the-top, and messy, without taking ourselves too seriously. My first story for this new community is **The Man Who Hunted Sea Lions on Lemmy.** Inspired by the drama I stirred up in a politics community, where now everyone seems convinced I’m some Russian troll mining “Russian bitcoinz” and spreading propaganda on Lemmy. Why? Because I dared to support voting third party. And wow, some of them took it personally—parody accounts, stalking, and even posting stats on how much I comment. Hateful DMs, weird comments—the works. Oy! Anyway, I learned a new term: “sealioning.” Never heard of it before Lemmy, but after asking what it meant (several times), I got banned from that community for three days… for sealioning! Still not sure how my posts fit that, but whatever—it gave me the idea for a fun little story in my new community. So, it worked out! I’ll keep cranking out and posting stories there, and maybe—just maybe—others will join in on the madness! And if not? No sweat. I’ll keep pumping out these craptacular tales, hurling them into the endless void of cyberspace, where they’ll float like ghosts in the dead ether, waiting for someone, somewhere, to stumble upon them. :)

I created a community for posting about the Peanuts comic you're probably familiar with. The comic was created by Charles M. Schulz, born in Minneapolis, MN, and ran from 1950 to 2000. The cast of characters will get quite large, but I'm posting daily strips starting from the first comic from 1950, so you can come watch as everyone gets introduced. Right now there's a lot of cute Snoopy going on. Join us at [!peanuts@midwest.social](https://midwest.social/c/peanuts)

A community for wholesome farming sim game Stardew Valley. [!stardewvalley@lemm.ee](https://lemm.ee/c/stardewvalley?dataType=Post) Why I created this community? There is already on lemmy.ml right? Current mod of stardewvalley on .ml is inactive. And, I got banned on lemmy.ml. This [post](https://lemm.ee/post/45248880) for more context

You might have heard of the SMBC webcomic; if not you're in for a good time! It's available at https://www.smbc-comics.com/, and is a webcomic about nerdery of various sorts, with a special focus on clown reproduction practices. It's been around a while, so I'm posting the daily comic as Zach posts it to the site, and posting old comics until it catches up in like a decade Come join us at [!smbc@midwest.social]()!

Hi all! While I'm unsure how new a community has to be to qualify for posting here, I'm hoping to shamelessly advertise a community I made on Feddit.Online called NC-SA Bops. NC-SA Bops was made because of my personal values, and a desire to follow those values as closely and regularly as possible. In my eyes, the way the copyright system works is flawed, restricting creativity of artists in building off of existing works, as well as being heavily commercialized, potentially preventing musicians from creating music that's uniquely theirs in favour of creating music that'd be seen as more profitable. In my explorations of music licensing, I found there to be limited options outside of the Creative Commons. I immediately distanced myself from anything licensed ND (Non-derivative) as I felt that to restrict people's creativity, and while the general ShareAlike license is fine, I also felt that by allowing commercial use of works, the general ShareAlike license does nothing to address the root issue of the copyright system: money. I found the BY-NC-SA license perfect as it embraces creativity in allowing derivatives while also preventing commercial use not just in the original track, but in derivatives as well. Whether you agree or disagree with my thoughts, I found it annoying that finding tracks specifically licensed BY-NC-SA was a pain, and in creating NC-SA bops, I hope that it helps others find tracks they enjoy under the license with more ease. Check it out here at [https://feddit.online/c/nc_sa_bops](/c/nc_sa_bops@feddit.online) !nc_sa_bops@feddit.online

!decentralization@lemmy.world ([relative link](/c/decentralization@lemmy.world) | [absolute link](https://lemmy.world/c/decentralization)) ### What All things and everything about decentralization: news, announcements, proposals, and discussions about decentralized apps, protocols and communities. - decentralized web (dweb) - peer-to-peer (P2P) - file-sharing (_e.g._, BitTorrent, IPFS, and Gnutella) - self-hosting - federation (_e.g._, ActivityPub/Fediverse and Bluesky) - federated apps (_e.g._, Mastodon, Lemmy, and Pixelfed) - cryptocurrencies (_e.g._, Bitcoin and Ethereum) ### Why I've noticed that although a lot of people are interested in decentralization, there aren't many forums where people can share news and discuss and develop projects together. Reddit used to have [/r/Rad_Decentralization](https://old.reddit.com/r/rad_decentralization), [/r/DarknetPlan](https://old.reddit.com/r/darknetplan/) and so on but the 2023 Reddit API controversy was the the final nail in their coffin.

Nevermind! Apparently a satisfactory community already exists and this is being redundant. !satisfactory@lemmy.world <- Exists and is awesome. ~~!satisfactory_game@lemm.ee~~ ~~A community to discuss Coffee Stain's Satisfactory - factory building game. But the game itself, engine issues, and user creations.~~

!world@quokk.au Not going to lie, I got banned so I made my own [World News ](!world@quokk.au) Community. This community differs because there's no silly bot, I'll happily listen to the communities voice, and we're a bit more lax on rules policing. Feel free to come on by and comment. I would love to foster a News community that's active in discussion.

Welcome to AskKaren - Where Karen's Always Guilty! This is your one-stop shop to confront the Karen in your life—whether she’s real or totally made up. Got cut off in traffic? Got attitude from a customer at work? Or maybe your HOA’s newest complaint about your garden has "Karen" written all over it? This is the place to ask Karen why she did it. Here’s how it works: 1. Make up any scenario where Karen’s acting like... well, Karen—and ask her to explain herself. 2. Share your real-life frustrations and get into Karen's head—because obviously, it was her fault, right? Whether it’s a fake story or a real moment of Karen-level entitlement, come ask her why she insists on making life difficult. Don’t hold back. She sure as hell wouldn’t. !askkaren@hilariouschaos.com

!barcelona@lemm.ee Hello everyone, I've been working on this community for a while now, so it's time to promote it. I will post regularly there news about the city, and Catalunya in general. Language-wise, I'll post mostly in Catalan (I'm learning it, so it's a good way to practice it), English and Spanish are allowed too. On that topic, if you have specific languages selected in your profile settings, you might not need the posts tagged with "Catalan" I'll try to reach out to the eponym subreddit to see if they would be open to promote it there too. Not too hopeful, but you never know And while I'm here, there is also !esp@lemm.ee for Spanish content
