A few months ago I got AMC A List and have been trying to max it out and see everything I can in theaters ever since. I've been seeing first night releases and early shows whenever scheduling is possible. One of my favorite parts after a movie is reviewing and discussing on letterboxd with friends and was looking for more people to discuss new movie releases with! My profile name is @thespokanekid and would love to follow other people from the lemmy movie community who also like to see new movies frequently. People can leave their profile names below and maybe a description of what you like to watch or what kind of movies you're into.

Box Office: ‘Megalopolis’ Crumbles With $4 Million, ‘The Wild Robot’ Lands at No. 1 With $35 Million

It was just all over the place. The story is so convoluted/ incoherent and storylines will start and stop at random without any sort of payoff. The actors all feel like they're performing in different movies.

The visuals were cool and there were a couple of funny moments, but I didn't enjoy myself at all the entire time. It was just absolutely a mess. Just because you quote Marcus Aurelius doesn't mean the movie is deep. It's like it's trying to make a point and never does because nothing connects in an impactful way.

I've been paying for YouTube premium and have been watching a ton of YouTube for years. But I've been finding myself watching less and less YouTube lately and this might be the push to finally cancel and back away some from the platform.

  • I just saw The Substance on Thursday in a fairly full theater. I really enjoyed the movie and the last 30 mins was batshit insane and a fun viewing experience in a packed room. While I really enjoyed it and gave it 4.5 stars on letterboxd, my gf was physically uncomfortable for a lot of the movie and didn't like it nearly as much as I did. Just looking to hear other people's opinions who have seen it already. It's been getting a lot of buzz in the movie channel with my discord friends.

Funny how they can spend 8 panels on just dancing and still be a great comic. Always liked this one

I thought so too! Haha my autocorrect on my keyboard adds them EVERYWHERE and I probably trust it too much. It wanted me to add three places on this one response

Socks with holes would drive me crazy during the day, so I'd just put on another pair and trash them personally

  • I've got a niece (5) and nephew (3). The niece is really good about finding ways to entertain herself and the nephew will always try and take it for himself and intrude, usually not in a compromising sort of way. Obviously, this is pretty typical kid behavior overall. She's reaching the age where she can learn more complicated games and ideas, which sounds really fun to introduce her to. If he's around, I feel like it will certainly cause a meltdown, and he's too young to reasonably participate anyway. As an older sibling myself. I think it's also unfair to hold her back until he can participate too. Some would say it's unfair to do it until he can as well. I would argue that it's actually unfair to introduce 5 year old games to her when she is 7 and he's 5 and can join too. She's being punished imo unnecessarily and being held back. Why does she have to wait till 7 while he gets it at 5? Is the only solution to try and schedule separate activity times to individualize the activities? Am I being biased as an older sibling myself in feeling that I would be holding back until he's at the same capability? Just curious for feedback. Thanks
