Sites that have old forums. There aren't many anymore, but ones I've seen that have been very helpful of late include car sites, a timeshare forum, and the Fantasy Grounds forum (my virtual tabletop of choice).
I'm sure there are others out there, but it's definitely more rare than it used to be. Is Something Awful still around?

Huh. How does that happen? I feel like in some other sports the same teams end up winning over and over again, like in basketball or football. How did baseball get such parity? Is it the way they implement the draft or because the good players are being traded a lot or something else?
I'm kind of new to baseball obviously lol. Just getting into it because it was exciting to see Ohtani on the Angels, and now on the Dodgers and they are actually doing good, so it's exciting to see he might win something. I know it's probably band wagon-y but whatever lol. I also live near that area but don't want to doxx myself too much.

Nope. I participate everywhere in the lemmy fediverse I can and never really had any issues with mods yet, which is surprising as I don't hesitate to get into political arguments generally. Ive blocked users, but never an instance. I take everything on a community by community and user by user basis.

Less here than any other instance I've noticed. It's why I like this instance. World, ml, beehaw, and hexbear all use defederation and banning at the drop of a hat. They're all trying to cultivate specific identities for their instances, so I don't begrudge them for it exactly, but it's not for me. I like the lack of censorship here and the openness. It makes the instance generic, but in a cool way. It's like the Union Station for the fediverse, or a skeleton key. If a user doesn't like a corner of the fediverse, they can block it themselves now, from individual users to whole instances. Sh.itjust.works might be like it, too, I haven't looked too much into their policies.
It's enough to make me realize I should donate to this place more lol.

I know that's the message the US is trying to give, but I hope the Houthi's keep up the good work despite the force of the US against them. Israel is a settler colonial state. It was founded by taking land from people who lived there. It's whole founding philosophy and ethos is based on occupation and oppression and ethno supremacy. So basically, it's the same as the Nazis.

I need some new shoes for every day work and walking. I basically only have one pair of casual shoes, one pair of running and gym shoes, and one pair of dress shoes right now, and the first one is falling apart. I spend most of the day in slacks and collared shirts sitting at a computer, but my work site also involves multiple buildings about 10-15 minutes walk from each other, so that surprisingly the walking and standing can add up throughout the day. Plus, like I said, only got one pair of shoes right now, so I literally wear them all the time for almost everything. So it would be nice if I could just wear them in normal life, too, so they look good hanging out with friends, going to an amusement park, or going on a stroll. Or maybe I just need to get another pair of shoes, so I can have some that are comfortable and some that look good when I go out to a nice bar or whatever lol. What do you guys suggest? What shoes do you guys wear for the office or normal every day use? Just white sneakers or something else? What brands or styles? EDIT: Loving all the recommendations so far! Keep 'em coming!
I have, but I'm going through the Remake trilogy and my partner is watching me complete the game. As far as I know they have somehow stayed unspoiled this whole time, so I'm going to try to keep it that way as long as I can. I'm playing Remake on Hard to remember the story and delay until my next paycheck, but will zoom through as fast as I can to get any cool stuff I missed and then jump into Rebirth. But I'm just curious, will they still enjoy Rebirth as much as I enjoyed the original games? Or do they change too many things for the sake of the meta-narrative? They are adamant they won't play the original btw, they are watching me play for the story while on their phone, and I don't think will be able to get past the old graphics and lack of voice acting, so I suspect the "This is a sequel, just play the original game" line I keep seeing on Reddit won't fly for them.

Is there more to this? Can someone explain to me the context of how this is a scandal? Like I hate Trump but I don't understand why this is a big deal. It doesn't seem to involve the man personally, just some staffers who had an argument with a cemetery worker, and seems like small potatoes compared to other scandals he's had. Is it because of how sacred the cemetary is, or did they get into an actual fist fight, or did Trump personally interfere in some way?

Looks like that hasn't been active in a few months. I also wonder if it's better to use this opportunity when it's possibly dead to revive the community somewhere else? I know it's probably too early to tell but I've been working weekends lately so it's been hard to watch the LCS and catch up, even though I was excited about this season. How are people enjoying the changes? Bo3's seem like a positive change so far? What about people from other regions? Have they had changes to their esports that seem positive or negative so far?
I'm considering buying some extra storage space for my PS5. Last time I was out of town, my partner tried to play a game and they couldn't, because I deleted it to make room. They went to download it but it was out of space, so of course they didn't want to delete anything. That makes me sad because I want to encourage them to use it and game lol. Plus, I think it would make it easier rather than always downloading and deleting things. Have other people bought extra storage for PS5? What kind would you recommend? Do you go for internal or external? Do you have the heat sink if an internal one? Is 4TB enough or overkill? I think I saw that amount somewhere once (unless I imagined it) but maybe 1 or 2 TB is good, and probably easier to find.
We're looking at movies to watch for Father's Day and my dad has already watched most of the ones out right now, so that eliminates the ones I want to see (Furiosa, The Fall Guy) and he's not interested in Planet of the Apes. That basically leaves the Watchers. Anyone see it yet and have any opinions on it? Going either way to spend time with my father, but want to know how low to set my mind expectations lol.
