Miscarriages are serious though. Abortions are a serious procedure. Imo women should be able to take a week off work if they have a miscarriage or get an abortion for any reason.

Yes, I absolutely think it's laughable that these drugs along with birth control require a prescription. I'm not sure if you're a woman, but I will say that doctors NEVER check contraindications with these drugs. Eg no one with migraines should take estrogen-based birth control, yet they never check this. So why even require I GO to a doctor for this, when the doctor can't even be bothered to read the product insert like I do. Genuinely pointless to have to go to them. And genuinely MOST early abortion drugs fall into this category as well.

Yes, our healthcare system is an absolute abomination and a national embarassment. That's why women feel unsafe- not because they are getting lifesaving access to abortions.

I knew a catholic family, like ultra catholic, who got an abortion approved by the church. It's funny, church-sanctioned murder, right? From their PoV? The fetus had not developed any kidneys - this was a later term abortion, even. But if the baby was born, it would 100% die an agonizing death as it was slowly poisoned by its lack of kidneys over a day. Who wants to watch God torture a baby to death? No one. So the church approved it. What fucking cowards, what assholes. These people are the same ones who'd get ride of abortion access, yet here they are using it because when it's THEM who has to witness agonizing horrors, suddenly it's a valid medical procedure again.

Actual analyses done on this topic by Pew, Breugel, and National Affairs suggest this effect is largely not true. When considering the entire electorate, a significant number of non-voters lean Republican or are politically unaffiliated and would not support the democratic party.

Further research indicates that, despite popular belief, higher voter turnout does not consistently benefit either party across the board. Over the past 70 years, there has been no strong correlation between increases in turnout and the Democratic vote share in presidential or midterm elections.

I am not sure how to find this. I actually already looked at a Pew article earliee today and didn't happen to see it there.

    https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2023/07/12/voter-turnout-2018-2022/

I'll link it again and look through it again to see if it's there.

Further, your second point is lacking any source including an author.

Last, whatever source you're quoting specifically important because I'm highly curious what the verbiage actually is. There is a world of difference between someone who "leans" Republican versus someone who will never vote Democrat.

    Eta, from above Pew source:

Adults who voted in at least one election during the period divide evenly between Democrats and independents who lean toward the Democratic Party or Republicans and Republican-leaning independents in their current party affiliation (48% each). The subset who voted in all three elections are similarly divided (49% Democrats, 50% Republicans). Citizens who did not vote in any of the three tilt Republican by 46% to 41%.

Reflecting these patterns, Republicans won a majority of votes among those who said they voted in person on Election Day, 60% to 38%. Democrats won – by an identical margin – voters who said they voted by mail or absentee ballot. Those who said they voted in person before Election Day were divided: 53% supported Republican candidates, while 46% voted for Democratic candidates.

Perhaps if Dems were able to pass easier mail in voting or better legislation generally, people would be more likely to vote for them

You know, vegans get a lot of hate for telling everyone they are vegan, yet I've never heard a vegan doing this and yelling about veganism. It's almost like racists are so much more violent and outspoken about it, including in kid's game lobbies and now with fucking vacuums. I have never seen vegans yell "VEGAN!" online repeatedly... and even if they did, that's substantially less harm anyway than racist bullshit. I never want to hear people complain about vegans talking about veganism ever again when this shit is part of everyday society and not surprising at all.

And ps I am not vegan.

  • Millions of Christians not planning to vote this November, could shape election: Study
  • LustyArgonianMana LustyArgonianMana 1w ago 100%

Hmm, it looks like i got confused by this statistic:

Overall, 70% of U.S. adult citizens who were eligible to participate in all three elections between 2018 and 2022 voted in at least one of them, with about half that share (37%) voting in all three.

    https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2023/07/12/voter-turnout-2018-2022

Which says the national average voter turnout for all 3 elections is 37%. The actual national average turnout for any individual election is about 46-66% depending on if it's a midterm or not. Since this one is not a midterm election, assuming 50% of Christians are voting, this gives non-Christians an advantage.

I think it does, it works with literally everyone else and we have scientific data showing it as well as lay people who help rehab and convert white supremacists and neonazis.

The thing is, if that shit DOES work with fascists, then it creates a burden of nonviolent methods being used first. And violence is so much easier and simpler - it's exactly why the fascists use it too. But yeah, we gotta be creative and try harder and use nonviolent solutions.

This shit is why I'm against spanking, it makes kids stupid and teaches them to commit and expect violence when there's an issue instead of problem solving. It's too bad you can't conceive of a world with nonviolent solutions, since violence itself causes fascism to worsen.

Came across the above link (view in Desktop mode) claiming to be an article from 1990 saying that Robert Maxwell not only intervened with these children, they put them on his plane. I was trying to find more information and stumbled on this link after reading the below article which said that Maxwell "may also have helped Jews get out of Romania in the 1980s." It struck me at the time, with how many similarities Robert Maxwell had to Epstein ...including a love of Ghilsaine, huge financial fraud concerns, and a death that many think could have been murder. And how many people who fight trafficking end up as human traffickers themselves because it allowed them access to victims. It's just so strange that THAT man would have access to these victim networks, and that it would be so difficult to find since he allegedly was doing a good thing, right? It's not even in his obituary in the Time from 1991. But that's some Nobel Peace prize stuff, right? So why is it so hard to find except in passing mentions in articles? https://www.timesofisrael.com/did-father-robert-maxwells-early-abuse-taint-ghislaine-long-before-she-met-epstein/ It would be interesting if he really was human trafficking those kids, and it would mean that Ghilsaine wasn't likely recruited by Epstein after her father died, but rather she recruited him to continue her work. https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/crime/ghislaine-maxwell-robert-jeffrey-epstein-b2472888.html > Maxwell told the 2016 deposition that after Epstein was jailed she continued to occasionally work at his properties and kept her ties with him. > “I’m a very loyal person and Jeffrey was very good to me when my father passed away,” she said in the 2016 deposition. > “I felt that it was a very thoughtful, nice thing for me to do to help in a very limited fashion.” Maybe she was loyal to him because he was her employee. > [Giuffre] claimed that Maxwell had directed her on three occasions to have sex with Prince Andrew. https://www.grunge.com/656382/this-is-how-ghislaine-mawell-and-jeffrey-epstein-really-met/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/lisettevoytko/2020/09/30/ghislaine-maxwell-reportedly-met-jeffrey-epstein-through-her-disgraced-father/?sh=17e34bc370f4 > According to Forbes, Maxwell and Epstein met through her father, convicted fraudster and tabloid king, Robert Maxwell. The pair was introduced as early as 1988, with Robert Maxwell reportedly providing funds for Epstein. > The claim that Robert Maxwell introduced his beloved daughter to Epstein comes from a convicted Ponzi schemer who had dealings with the men, according to Distractify. Other sources have Ghislaine Maxwell meeting Epstein through mutual friends around 1991, the year when Robert Maxwell died after suffering a heart attack and drowning. Finding out how those two met is likewise quite difficult, which is crazy since both of them went through several trials detailing their crimes. The Forbes article even notes that its likely they knew each other before Robert's death because of a photo of them together around 19 days after he died.

    > WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — The President of the Navajo Nation announced earlier today that he was sending police to stop the transport of uranium across tribal lands. In his statement, President Buu Nygren said that the shipment was being done illegally. He also stated the lack of notice from the mining company posed a danger to his people. >"The lack of notification to the Navajo Nation is a blatant disregard for our tribal sovereignty and exposes our Diné people to toxic uranium,” Nygren said. “A substance that has devastated our community for decades.” >During the development of the first nuclear bomb and the subsequent nuclear arms race, Navajo lands were home to a large number of uranium mines. Sites across the Colorado Plateau, many of them on the Navajo reservation, were used to extract millions of tons of high-grade uranium ore. > Energy Fuels Inc., the largest uranium provider in the United States, agreed to give the tribe notice before hauling uranium across exempted highways. According to Nygren, the tribe only found out about the shipment after trucks had departed. [Nygren dispatched tribal police to turn away the shipment. But, according to the Associated Press, the trucks left tribal lands before police could intercept them. >"As president, I do not approve of this transport and will continue to fight to ensure our people are protected from the actions of Energy Fuels,” Nygren said. > While Tuesday’s shipment quickly left tribal lands, no guarantee exists that Energy Fuels will honor their agreement in the future. President Nygren has vowed to use roadblocks to prevent further shipments of uranium while the tribe develops regulations.
