Don't get me wrong. There is still a time and a place for Fortran. And this will also likely always be the case for C++. But I'm not sure it is entirely wise to choose it if you're creating a new project anymore.

I've done a bit of C++ coding in my time. The feature list of the language is so long at this point that it is pretty much impossible for anyone new to learn C++ and grok the design decisions anymore. I don't know if this is a good thing or not to keep adding and extending or whether C++ should sail into the sunset like Fortran and others before it.

It's not just about distance. It's also about the ability to sustain. The Moon might end up being like Antarctica -- with resources always flown in. So the Moon might always be a bunch of research stations supported by the Earth.

Mars is too far to pull this trick off, and telerobotics is much harder there due to the latency. So Mars makes more sense to work on establishing self-sufficiency than the Moon does. It also, conveniently, has a better set of resources to support the same.

But I do agree that we ought to use the Moon to test some things first :)

I just watched 45 mins of that video while folding laundry. The result was a dramatic change in the nature of my YouTube ads and recommended videos to promote preppers and pseudoscience. It's amazing how the algorithm works so quickly to push people onto that radicalization treadmill.

Sounds fun. But there's a huge Venn diagram overlap between them and the sovcits, covid-hoax, various types of "truthers" and doomsday cult types. So the target market, if you're marketing to preppers, is not just the clever Doctor Stone cosplayers.

I rarely judge someone for ignorance unless it is wilful. I pretty harshly judge people who cannot assimilate new information. Over time I think I might be evolving from INTP->INTJ as I age. I used to have more patience and would try to encourage people to learn and adjust.

I run a small business. People in my spam folder have really high opinions of my business. They all want to invest or something... Mostly harvesting my LinkedIn profile for keywords.

If it's a game I'm going to get hundreds, or sometimes thousands of hours from, then I'll pay more. If you look at price per hour spent on entertainment, it's hard to compare. However, you often have to wade through a bunch of shitty overpriced games to find those gems.

The lighting bothers me. The froth was transient however and I didn't really have time to adjust lighting.

I guess just start posting some stuff there hoping to spawn conversations. I'll do the same, even though I hate the Leafs ;)
