[CW: bigotry] Had an encounter with overt transphobia today...

Went to get some last minute groceries, wasn't particularly concerned about passing, but wore a mask because I wanted to give my face a break for the weekend. I get out of my car and some corn fed yokel 14 year olds run past me while loudly have a conversation about 'what is *it*?!'. They go back and forth on if I'm a girl or boy, I can't remember the exact details of the conversation because the girl in the group answered the two boys with something that shut my brain down. She said "that's a Democrat"...  I'm still having trouble processing the whole thing.

Anybody else pack a heater? (Non-burgerlanders, we know this is not normal or good, but we are surrounded by frothing at the mouth chuds with guns). Right now I carry a pepper spray and a legal knife, never needed to use it, but I'm thinking of carrying. What are your thoughts on this from the trans perspective?

[SOLVED] Proxmox home media server help?

Hello again! Ya'll are my last hope for help! I've posted to both the proxmox forums and r/proxmox and nobody's responding. Here's the deal, I built this home media server about a year ago. Took some time to work out the bugs, but I got TrueNAS Scale and Jellyfin on it and started filling it up. A few weeks ago TrueNAS started freezing up, but would work for a little while after a restart, but then it stopped working. I poked around and I found that there needed to be some sort of new EFI boot thing established. I followed it and it worked. A few days later, jellyfin freezes, I can't access the pve GUI or anything, so I do a hard reset. Now proxmox can't launch pve, let alone the GUI. So I've been poking around and found that the drives are at 100% usage, and inodes are at 100% usage (see pic, disk usage is the same % as the inode usage). Digging deeper, I try to find the offending folder in /rpool/ROOT/pve-1, but there are no deeper directories listed. So I drill down into the other pig one /subvol-100-disk-0; this lead me to find a jellyfin metadata library folder with a bunch of small files using up <250 inodes each. I've searched all over the place and haven't been able to figure out what I could delete to at least get pve up and running, and work towards... idk, migrating it to a new larger drive? Or setting up something to automatically clear old files? At any rate, I'm running 2 old 512gb laptop drives for all the OSs on the server. I have it in a ZFS mirror raid. PS: Come to think of it, I've had to expand the size of the virtual drive for my jellyfin LXC multiple times now to get the container to actually launch. Seems I know just enough to get myself into trouble. Someone, please help me rite my pirate ship!

Clipping out basic words in youtube clips is pissing me off

I watch a lot of the Hasan Abi industrial complex to keep up on the news. There's more and more of these channels skip clipping over words like "killed", "bomb", "war", and even "gun". One of the clips I saw earlier kept the word "missile" too... That's just a bomb with propellant!! I don't get why they keep doing this, it's really annoying. It just feels like yuppy bullshit, I have yet to encounter someone who gets triggered by these words, online or irl. Thanks for reading my rant, goodnight.

Need some help with Chromium on Fedora

So I use Chromium for work. I installed it through Discovery and selected the "From Fedora Linux" option. It's worked fine for months. Then this morning, I closed out of it then opened it up later and it simply would not launch. It gives the little bouncy icon for a moment, then nothing. So I fiddle around with it, and downloaded the flatpak version, which worked, but I don't want it. Any idea how I can get it back up and running? Running Plasma 6.1.5, Wayland. I already tried hopping into the Gnome desktop and that didn't work. Thanks in advance!

Serious post here, what are your predictions? Do the US sign on for a subscription to Hitler or Hitler+? What makes you believe this? My take: Harris eeks out a victory, based on the vibes I get. She may flip NC too. I think that second part because the overall trend of polling has had her slowly increasing on average there. AZ is flipping back to Trump this go around. Second possibility I see is that the electoral college shenanigans the GOP is angling for in NE actually results in the first ever tie. Supreme court gives it to Trump even though he loses the popular vote. Libs say "ah well, never the less". Either way, I think there's going to be hog riots in MI, PA, and NC if it flips.

I want to immigrate to someplace that's not a shit hole teetering on the brink. The culture is so fucking violent and geared towards crushing the human spirit, it really is a blight. I switched to Linux!

Fedora, it fucking slaps and worked right out of the box. I'm using it for work and play on my main rig! I dual boot for some very specific hardware things that are not normal, but other than that it's been seamless! When I booted into Windows 10 again, they auto installed copilot... Glad to be done with this crap.

Trump's followers will do some terrorism like they usually do, but the majority of them will become disenfranchised and go the way of the tea party - still present, still a pain in the ass, but ineffectual. They will devote their time to Trump's new talk show and he will sell them Trump hairy balls strong man supplements and other scams. American empire will continue to expand, nothing will fundamentally change. Blue MAGA is the new order.

Anyone else feel this way?

I just need to share some meandering thoughts, please bear with me. The way I think and feel emotions is strange to me. I've spent so much time in my own head conceptualizing things I can't always process my own thoughts. I feel like there's this veil over all my perception that I can just barely catch a sense is there. I especially get it when listening to music with certain ethereal sounds. Sleep is another avenue where I try to press on this boundary, but I've never felt like I've broken through. I have a vague spiritual sense about it and I feel like realizing my trans identity was the biggest turn towards understanding it. I'm also neurodivergent with ADHD and a good bit of trauma, when I started my stimulant meds it made all these things more manageable, but there's still this uncomfortable disquiet always on my mind. Anyone else feel this way or something akin to it?

Active medical sector collapse in the US?

I can't go into much detail, but I know a lot of people with medical problems who aren't being seen by doctors in the US. Time and again I see people who have what I know to be fairly routinely urgent medical concerns that do get told by the ER that they have to wait for a specialist... 6+ months out. I'm sorry, but an infection doesn't wait 6+ months for you to put them on some basic antibiotics that a PA or I think even some nurse practitioners can prescribe in certain jurisdictions. I remember when I was in the military (circa 2008), I had a colleague who told me his mother died on the sidewalk outside an ER because they couldn't afford any insurance and the hospital refused to see her. I didn't believe it, I though that it couldn't possibly be a thing in the US. But I keep seeing parallel issues time and again, but now it's for basic things and not because of insurance, but providers and networks are so fucked up that people must be dying from these things. I know someone who worked in billing and claims for medical insurance too. They share horror stories about double leg amputees being denied a wheelchair... Hope I don't get an infected cut or something, even with my decent insurance who the hell knows at this point!

I love soulful acoustic indie music, especially in minor tones. But I can never seem to find artists like this who are trans and sing about our experiences. I don't get the whole transfem screeching noises punk stuff, doesn't quite click with me. Anyway, does anyone have some recommendations? Thanks! ❤️
