looking to slow right the F down? any of the family (meaning not primary islands) islands in the Bahamas, but particularly abaco, eleuthera, long island or andros. 100% totally different way of living than you are likely used to.
visited many times and wanting to go back before its all gone due to climate change.

isnt what we are currently experiencing an unhealthy reaction to the that same propagandized society? hard to pump shit into peoples heads for decades and not get some sort of sociopathic, immune-like response. many of our fellow citizens really do want to see it all burn right now. everything has been calcified and these people are lashing out in, what I think is, the worst possible way.
in many respects the very thinking processes of our society have been perverted in service to the whims of the richest. I consider this a bit of a dumbing down of our civic intelligence, but... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

ok,
Share of the population using safely managed sanitation facilities
- 884 million people in the world, approximately 1 in 8, do not have access to safe water
- 2.5 billion people across the globe lack access to adequate sanitation services
- 1.4 million children die every year, 1 child every 20 seconds, from diarrhea caused by unclean water and poor sanitation
- 443 million school days are lost each year to water-related diseases
- 47% of diarrhea incidents can be reduced by hand-washing with soap at critical times
- 87% say they washed their hands after using public lavatories
- 77% actually wash their hands after using a public restroom
- 46% say they wash their hands for 15 seconds or less
- 15-20 seconds equals the amount of time recommended for hand-washing with soap and water
- 200% the average increase in life expectancy at birth since the introduction of modern, indoor plumbing
above Current Statistics with additional source links
but, as you said, all of these figurative people can get right outta town.
plumbers through history have saved countless lives, whether you think so or not. I say they are in the top 5 all-time life saving professions.
edit: upvoted you cuz you responded :-)

thoughtful. my issue here is while a community is nascent, isnt building maintaining an honest reflection of the community important?
I have joined a few tiny locally communities based on one post/comment. I may never return and the community traffic is irregular.
in a situation like that I can see a mod pruning me away for zero comments in a year. however that is a form of censorship. so its back to the default of mods run their communities as they wish and, if you disagree find/create another community or instance.
thanks for the thoughful comment.

dont wanna pile on... but idk, man... next time you use a functional toilet, you might want to consider what you just said.
plumbers are likely in the top 5 of all time life savers on this planet. just sayin'.
respect you social work immensely, but everyone's contributions are undervalued in this world.

didnt finish the video but, seriously, one of the best laymans explainations I have seen of emulation and thin compatibility layers.
just updated to the v0.0.35 f-droid build and jerboa started to **consistently** crash at seemingly random times. likewise, I would get web UI error notifications while using the web frontend. did a little testing and noticed that it may be related to the "show avatars" setting being enabled. **turning "show avatars" off and saving the settings seems to have eliminated the issues on both web and app**. will continue to test and update the post if needed. any others able to confirm or refute this particular issue might be helpful. edit: there are still crashes related to editing a post, but crashes while scrolling through posts and comments seem to be much reduced. any feedback is welcome. edit2: further poking suggests the underlying cause may be jerboa not handling server response timeouts well. turning off avatars may reduce the number of API calls and therefore the number of potentially mishandled timeouts. crash frequency is likely variable as a result of variable server load. if others also experience reduced crash frequency with avatars turned off then I can either create a github issue or add info to an existing one.
sorry about the quality - was stopped (safety first) but dealing with poor picture taking conditions.
Just checked the Jerboa git and... ![](https://lemmy.ml/pictrs/image/c7f29006-e712-4f09-8ced-0ba8a13f745c.png) Had to document it for posterity.
I know that many of us already know this, but it should repeated as often as needed. we are the network -- the network is us. social is nothing without the interactions that we create. reddit was just a place; a place that, because of a centralized power dynamic, abused us all. we have are now at a cultural juncture, an opportunity to bring back what each of us knows to be true. our interactions do not need to capitalized, marketed and sold. we are not products. we are the network. *please, find communities that even mildly interest you or catch you eye, join them and comment on posts.* just had this conversatin with the wife and she is joining Lemmy to start her own federated social journey. /end_rant
pretty please... we need a samwise "share the load" meme for Lemmy instances, and it should be pinned far and wide. mememasters... do your thing.
