I'm going to talk about some serious stuff here so move along if you were trying to keep things light today.
Scott Hutchinson from Frightened Rabbit died by suicide in 2018. Throughout his music Scott often talked about anxiety and depression and suicide. I highly recommend Frightened Rabbits 2008 album The Midnight Organ Fight. I want to link every song from that album but I'll limit it to just 3.
The Modern Leper - Frightened Rabbit
In this song he compares anxiety and depression to leprosy and asks the question to his significant other why would you love a modern leper? Are you a masochist?
Scott often said that he openly wrote and sang about his illness hoping that it would help someone else.
Head Rolls Off - Frightened Rabbit
In this song you'll hear the lyrics "when my blood stops someone else's will not" and "while I'm alive I'll make tiny changes to Earth" indicating his desire to help others by sharing his feelings and his pain.
Floating in the Forth - Frightened Rabbit
In this song you'll hear him ask the question "is there peace beneath the roar of the Forth road bridge?" and then make the somewhat hopeful statement "I think I'll save suicide for another year."
His body was found near the shores beneath the Forth road bridge near Edinburgh. Making this song so much more powerful knowing that he predetermined his death more than 10 years in advance and those thoughts were constantly with him.

I know I've heard their "shitty" album and I liked it. I can't remember if I've heard either of their first two

Slint's 1991 album Spiderland is one of my favorite albums ever. They haven't done anything since and I have no idea what those guys are up to but I'd definitely be intrigued if they popped up again

Outkast is one of my favorite hip hop artists and I would definitely be excited if they decided to do something together again.

I only listened to a few songs but I like what I hear so far! I'll listen to more later. A couple of questions first...
What song(s) are you most proud of?
Did you make your own album art? It's really cool.

It's my turn to post an R.E.M song! Also not a duet but that's okay.
When I was a kid my sister bet me that I couldn't memorize all the lyrics to this song... I proved her wrong! And I still remember most of it!
🎶 It's the end of the world as we know it! 🎶

It was actually their 2013 tour when I saw them. So two years after this video. I was thinking it was earlier than that. I saw them at a small venue called Akron Musica in Akron, Ohio, USA.

I saw them live probably around the time this video was made! It was really cool to see them do their thing with the loop pedals.
New album by The Armed. This has more of a rock sound then their previous works which had this interesting blend of hardcore and noise pop. Honestly I didn't love their previous works that much but they were always unique so I wanted to check this out. Although it's not as unique I'm finding myself really enjoying this. It just sounds very well put together if that makes any sense. Song whip below! https://songwhip.com/the-armed/perfect-saviors

Yes. The fast-paced vocals work perfectly for the bluegrass style

Very cool. I like hearing that bassline on an upright bass
Youth Lagoon/Trevor Powers has a really interesting and unique sound that's kinda hard to describe. Here is Youth Lagoon performing Rabbit from their most recent album Heaven is a Junkyard. [Full performance here.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpNmOzkVo5A)
Another record released today that I'm enjoying. This is Margaret Glaspy's third album but the first I've heard from her. I'd describe it as bluesy alternative. Great vocals and lyrics. And I love the details from the bass and drums throughout the album. Songwhip below! https://songwhip.com/margaret-glaspy/echothediamond
I'm enjoying this debut album from Irish group Naked Lungs. It's like a darker doomier Fontaines DC. https://songwhip.com/nakedlungs/doomscroll
Just came across this British post-punk group on YouTube. I love their energy. It looks like they released their debut EP last year. Hopefully we get more from them soon!
This is from NPRs tiny desk series home edition during covid times. This performance by Men I Trust is perfect for just chilling out at the end of the day. Relax and enjoy!
The harp is an underutilized instrument in my opinion. Here's some "Harp Rock" from singer/harpist Mikaela Davis. https://songwhip.com/mikaela-davis/and-southern-star
Here's an album I've been enjoying from Glasgow sibling duo comfort released a few months ago. I'd describe it as punk with experimental electronic sounds and witty social commentary. Songwhip below. Enjoy! https://songwhip.com/comfort2/whats-bad-enough
I'm really liking this debut by Australia's Rin McArdle. This actually came out last week but I'm calling it fresh anyways. She's friends with Courtney Barnett so you know it'll be good. Songwhip link and an NME article about her below. https://songwhip.com/rinmcardle/rin-mcardle https://www.nme.com/en_au/features/music-features/rin-mcardle-interview-3475992
I was reminded of this by the Smoko post. However this cover showcases Genesis Owusu more than it does The Chats. Enjoy!
Hovvdy is duo from Austin, Texas and I just really love this song from their 2021 album True Love.
The San Cisco post reminded me of another Aussie indie pop act that I first heard around the same time. This is the first Ball Park Music song I ever heard but they actually have a lot of good stuff in my opinion.

https://songwhip.com/oscarlang/look-now Here's a release from last Friday that I really enjoyed. It's the 2nd album by Oscar Lang out of the UK. Some personal lyrics mixed with some indie pop sounds. A little bit psychedelic at times. Some cool orchestral stuff too. Check it out!
https://songwhip.com/allegrakrieger/i-keep-my-feet-on-the-fragile-plane https://allegrakrieger.bandcamp.com/album/i-keep-my-feet-on-the-fragile-plane Allegra Krieger’s fourth record and her first with Double Double Whammy – is her most mature and alluring work yet. It contains all the signatures of her best lyricism: delicate and precise phrasings, moments that flicker between beauty and banality, meaning that forms through the accretion of observations, memories, and unexpected adages...
Here's some new releases I'm excited about!
