The T can be… well the way the T is, but today I had such a nice interaction with one of the bus drivers! I was running late on my daily commute and was a full block away from the bus stop when I saw the bus approaching. There was no chance I was making it, even at a full out sprint, so I was accepting my fate of having to take my alternate route as the bus drove by, but the driver honked to ask if I was getting on! He recognized me and let me board at not even a little bit the bus stop! I am so touched and can’t stop smiling at the driver’s kindness.

Thank you for your thoughtful response! I will definitely use your feedback! For instance I hadn’t thought much about non-ISBNed content and will totally work on that!

    Thank you for your perspective!

Definitely a reasonable critique but honestly I don’t plan to ever release it to the public, it’s really just for me.

  • Hello! I am currently making a reading tracking website (a la Goodreads, StoryGraph, and LibraryThing) as a personal project and have hit a bit of a wall, so I've come to the internet for ideas. What do y'all like about your tracking service of choice. What features do you think are cool or important? Are there any things that your service doesn't do that you wish it did? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

That is so valid and I’ve been considering doing something similar. What books API do you use? I tried various ones for a project a little while ago and was a bit disappointed in the data quality.

What do you use to track your reading?

Hello all! I mostly use StoryGraph (my name is creadstoomuch if you wanna be friends), but I was wondering what other options y'all have found that work for you. There are many things I like about it (the fact that it is not an Amazon product, the design, the stats, the currently reading tracking abilities) but there are also some things I don't like (the drop down menus behaving irregularly and, in some places, very poorly being my biggest issue). I also use LibraryThing to find my next reads but it doesn't have the currently reading tracking of StoryGraph. So what do you use? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

does anyone know of a way to find obscure YA novels you only vaguely remember
  • capybeby capybeby 9mo ago 100%

You could try asking your local Youth Services Librarian. They see so many books and often have some amount of research backgrounds. They also tend to LOVE this kind of mystery.

    Audio balance sometimes changes
  • capybeby capybeby 9mo ago 100%

Ah damnit. I sorta thought this problem started on my old computer but I thought ‘Surely not. How could this problem be tied to my Apple ID??’ but your experience suggests I was correct. :/ was hoping it would eventually go away with a new device

    Audio balance sometimes changes

Hey all! I think at one point I changed the balance of my audio output (an earbud was a little dead so I shifted the amount of sound coming out of the left and right to compensate). I’ve long since gotten a new pair of headphones but sometimes I connect them and the balance has reverted back! It drives me bananas (I’m the sort of person who must turn on the mono sound accessibility feature bc stereo effects make me dizzy) and I have no idea if it’s something I’m doing to trigger the behavior or if I’m stuck with it until this computer dies. Anyone else experiencing this or have any ideas about how to fix it?

Hello everyone! Just here to say that I am truly blown away by the difference having nice needles makes! I am a crocheter branching into knitting, so I got a silly little cheap pair of needles to see if knitting was something I’d like. I enjoyed it but there was something frustrating about it that I couldn’t quite identify. I decide that I want to try to make a pair of socks, and thus ordered some dpn (Knitter’s pride Karbonz) and I am having so much fun just knitting the swatch! They flow and click in such a satisfying way, making it abundantly clear how terrible my other needles are. That’s all, just sharing my excitement :)

  • Is this a normal way for a cat to sleep? He is a rescue and I’m pretty sure his hips were injured at some point, so I always thought that this was related. But we’ve just gotten a kitten who started doing it too.

Does anyone know where one might acquire chocolate Twizzlers in Cambridge (or one of the adjacent cities)? I've looked at Star and CVS and haven't found any. Thanks!

  • And I absolutely loved it. It is honestly one of my new favorite books. I am going to tag basically this whole post as spoilers because the thing that truly makes this book amazing does not start until almost 100 pages in. SPOILERS FOR THOSE ON APPS THAT CAN'T HANDLE THEM SPOILERS ::: spoiler spoiler I love stories about friendship and the friendship between Grace and Rocky was truly beautiful. They are both lost and confused and in a horrible situation but they both take everything in stride. They see a way to help eachother and to not have to do it alone and they grab onto it with both (all five) hands. The way they both accept the other's habits knowing there are things that are fundamentally different between each other is a lesson for everyone. The growth we see from Grace is also some of the best I've read. We learn later that he chose the self-centered path by refusing to join the Hail Mary crew on his own. Then, when faced with a very similar choice he chooses to save Rocky and his people instead of himself. I honestly cried. Not only are our two main characters amazing but they are FUNNY! I laughed out loud so many times! Overall I cant wait to re-read this one a bit down the line. ::: END SPOILERS So, have you read this one? What did you think?
