Why do shows on streaming platforms waste time with "previously on" recaps?

Everything from the Boys, to Marvel shows, to Lower Decks waste so much time every episode recapping what happened previously. We're watching these shows on demand. If we needed a recap we simply watch parts of the last episode. Binging shows is so normal it's a meme now. Do the people making these shows seriously think there's a possibility of network syndication or something? As if we'll eventually go back to the network model? What do you think?

It'd be cool, and fun, if all of Lemmy had a certain no-politics day.

Let's say Sunday is NoPo day, for example. I think we'd all be in a better mood that day. Edit. Yikes. Way too many people taking this too seriously and missing the point. No, I'm not trying to suppress your free speech. No, this post is not oppressive of your political views in anyway. No, this doesn't have any baring whatsoever on what country you're from. If your response to this shower thought is a four paragraph rage you are already lost. Why are you in showerthoughts? No, this does not have anything to do with subscriptions or blocking communities. If you're incapable of light jokes then no, you should not comment. And finally, no, this is not a serious request post. I can't believe that needs to be explained for half the people here...

Prometheus was definitely a disappointment, so I've put off watching Covenant because everyone always says it's worse than Prometheus. I finally watched it tonight, and I thought it was a hell of a lot better. It's actually a good Alien movie imo. Spoilers beware: I enjoyed the synthetic, and I think they did a good job with both of them. I liked most of the crew, especially the lead actress. That relieved smile at the end was too cute. The actual aliens were bad ass too. The fight with the two "kids" was crazy. It's awesome to finally see aliens do crazy animal attacks. Especially loved the 360 tail attacks. The "it respected me" scene was cool too, that's such a great idea. They were relentless with their attacks and they just kept coming back. I know people harp on what's Dr Shaw being killed between movies, but I think it works fine. Really shows you how evil David's become. I could have done without the obvious twist at the end, but whatever. Movies gotta movie, I guess. I don't know what I'm missing. Do people dismiss the movie without seeing it or something?

In the beginning of season 3 why is Matt running around in the black suit? He survived the fight at the end of S2. I understand he's hiding out and healing up with the church, but what happened to his DD suit?

Has anyone watched Monkey Man? It's really good.

The poster and description do nothing to inspire watching it, but I finally gave it a go and wow it surprised me. It's an awesome revenge flick. The main character basically Rocky Balboas his way into becoming John Wick and it's a fun ride. They even call him John Wick at one point, which usually would be eye rolling but it's funny. There's some fun religious stuff thrown in, and really good fight choreography. At one point I had to pause for the bathroom and was really happy I was only half way through it. I highly recommend it.
