Yeah, I've tried most of the ones everyone is talking about but none of them have compared to Jerboa imo. I think people are too quick to look for alternatives. I'll still probably hop to Boost once it's out, just because that's what I used for reddit and I'm used to it. But Jerboa is pretty good.

I initially thought he was cool because of Tesla but I think when he called that cave rescue guy a pedo I lost any respect and I soon realised what an awful person he is.
How anyone could defend him these days is totally beyond me.

What is a "hand-free" game exactly?

Scout looks really cool, and yes, we just play single rounds of rummikub (with a bunch of house rules and extra pieces to make it a bit faster and fun)

Hadn't seen this before but I've got another group I play with who really enjoy exploding kittens so I might have to grab this regardless. Thanks!

That sounds quite fun, I might give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

Same here, my one complaint aside from other small nitpicky things.

I don't think I tried that actually, shall give it a go. I mostly just wanted to give Jerboa some love. It's fun trying the new ones but people seem to overlook it a bit.

Liftoff was really slow/buggy for me and I think searching for communities was hard

I'm on android but I've tried a bunch (connect, summit, wefwef, another I forget) but I think Jerboa is the best. Seems the most functional by far. Can't wait for boost, though.

Thanks, I haven't heard of Fluxx, shall check it out.

Thank you! I haven't heard of filler games before, should make my search a bit easier. I'll go through your list, too. I was wondering about the crew, I tried Cat in the Box but it didn't take because of the scoring.
I am wondering if anyone has suggestions that will fit my needs. At work me and some work pals play a quick game or two of rummikub. This has been the reigning king of lunch for a while for a few reasons: it's quick, easy to learn if someone wants to join in, suits varying amounts of players, there's no scoring or need to write anything down, random enough that most people get a win every now and then, VERY quick set up, just grab tiles and go. I like it but also like variety and am wondering if anyone has some suggestions that match some or all of these criteria. Just a quick replayable game that we can enjoy on our break and anyone can join in easily. I tried Azul but even that was a bit too much for most even though it's the slightest bump up in terms of setup and scoring. Thanks for any suggestions! Edit: So many excellent suggestions to try, thanks everyone!

What is flushing exactly? Is it just violently swishing water through your teeth? I do that and find it works better at getting stuff out than flossing most of the time.

It did exist, just never stopped people from posting in the non NSFW one. It's a popular thing because people are always horny is the issue. Flairs and filters are the ideal solution I think.

Same, I loved boost, have got the boost for Lemmy preload on my phone already.
Nachorella 1y ago • 100%
Part of the fun of Lemmy is it can be as big or small as you like. Just find a smaller instance that blocks any of the big places if that ends up happening.

I kind of don't think it's that weird. I grew up with computers and I use one for work in a technical field where understanding them helps. But I also barely use one anymore other than for work or the odd game. People who grew up on phones and want to develop for phones or consoles might never have needed to use a computer but can still be interested in computer science.

That's good to know. I though some communities seemed larger than the numbers suggested. Would be good to get both numbers visible.

I don't actually know but maybe it has to do with high humidity favoring less clothing so your sweat helps cool you more effectively? Or perhaps the higher ease in finding shade in the tropics.

I think it's fine, it will all just work out over time.
