Saturday Night Live

With the WGA strike nearing a close, I've been seeing a lot of articles predicting a return on October 7th or 14th. I think the 7th is too soon of a turnaround, but I could see the 14th happening if the strike officially ends. Bonus points for predictions on any new cast members.

Still way better than all those recent AI generated We Anderson trailers.

>Bennett plays Pat, an out-of-shape, average office Joe who vows to run a marathon against his smug, uber-fit boss Spencer, played by McHale. Sounds okay. I was imagining [this sketch](https://youtu.be/rVPSLzrQmpU?si=kBeeQe-r7AGW9t3z), but as a movie. It sounds decent enough to watch when it comes to streaming.

[Duncan Donuts (Casey Affleck)](https://youtu.be/FSvNhxKJJyU?si=XkKjqmWD01JP-lE0) [Sam Adams (Bill Burr)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=je1NIf8GeeY) Well, it's not really much of a trend... There's only two that I know of, but they're great sketches. Am I missing any?

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Hard to believe this was 13 years ago.

I get this song stuck in my head way more often than I'm proud to admit.

Parodies of dramatic reboots is probably my favorite recent SNL trend.

TLDR: season 2 is probably not happening. "We finished the first season, and then they let us start writing the second season, and the stuff that we were coming up with was really, really fun, and we love it. But then, at a certain point…the term of that ran out, and then we were just kind of hanging around waiting for an answer, and we never had any kind of answer saying that we weren't doing a second season. But at this point, if they wanted us to do a second season, I think they probably would have said something."

In my opinion the author seems to have an axe to grind, but he brings up a pretty long list of legitimate issues. Considering only the cold and standoffish management style of Lorne, I think I'm a little more forgiving. On one hand, I definitely wouldn't want to work for him, but on the other hand, I don't think SNL would be as successful without Lorne and his style. Overall it's an interesting read and left me with a lot to think about. TLDR from ChatGPT: The article discusses the power dynamics and complexities within Saturday Night Live (SNL) and its creator, Lorne Michaels. It highlights how SNL has played a pivotal role in shaping American comedy and creating celebrity icons. The author delves into the alleged workplace abuses, gender-based harassment, and discriminatory practices that have occurred under Michaels' leadership. The article explores how SNL's success is built on a system that restricts opportunities for many comedians while granting fame and financial stability to a select few. The author questions the cost of achieving celebrity status and the toll it takes on individuals' well-being. The piece ultimately presents SNL as a reflection of the larger issues in the entertainment industry, where celebrity culture often masks systemic problems.

Their style (especially Kyle's) was definitely consistent from their Good Neighbor days through SNL. Also, were they the first cast members that got big online before getting on the show?
